Brin-L Statistics Web Site
Welcome!
What the hell is Brin-L?
Brin-L is an e-mail discussion list where fans of science fiction author
David Brin discuss... well... anything. Although it started as a list for
discussing the works of David Brin
and Gregory Benford,
everything (from literature to home cooking to politics to ...) can be
discussed. Not only did David Brin lend his name to this list, he also
takes part in discussions (when he isn't busy writing another great novel).
How do I subscribe to Brin-L?
This mailing list is open to all; to subscribe you only have to send
a e-mail to [email protected]
with the text subscribe brin-l <first name> <last name> in
the body. Then sit back and prepare to receive some 1500-2000 messages
a month (really, no kidding!). For more information, take a look at the
Brin-L
FAQ, the Administrative FAQ and the Etiquette
Guidelines.
Brin-L Statistics
This site provides you with statistics of Brin-L. At this time, the
Statistics
Section includes a list of number of posts per member (known to list
members as "Alpha-Mail Statistics") and a list of number of subscribers.
In the future you may expect things like overviews of member's postings
per month and per day, and whatever else someone may come up with.
Traeki Ring Names, Brin-L Chat
This site also has a section that lists the Traeki
Ring Names of various members. A traeki (one of the races in DB's Uplift
novels) resembles a stack of doughnuts, in which every ring performs a
specific function. A while ago someone mentioned on our weekly chat
(yes, we have that too!) that Brin-L resembled a traeki. Soon afterwards,
several list members had their own traeki name. This section now also contains
Marvin Long's traeki poem!
Stellar Region
Two listmembers, Kat Feete and Gord Sellar, have created a Role Playing
Game (RPG) called Stellar Region. Read all
about it!
Links to other sites
Here you'll find links to member's home pages. Soon you may also find
links to Brin-related sites and other interesting sites. If you have an
URL you'd like to see added to the Links Page,
please send it to me.
Brin-L Archive
In the (hopefully not too distant) future, this site will also have
an archive of Brin-L postings. If you have old messages or old Brin-L Digests
(prior to #925), please let me know. Those messages and digests can be
of great help building a complete archive!
If you would like to see something added to this site, please let me
know. Send an e-mail to the address below. It's also the address to send
other suggestions and constructive criticism.
